Ross Brawn: Mercedes GP determined to end 2011 season on high note – Formula 1 news
Mercedes GP boss Ross Brawn has said that they are determined to end the 2011 Formula 1 season on a high note.
Brawn added that they are looking forward to successful race weekend in Brazil taking place on November 27 at the Sao Paulo circuit.
The Petronas-sponsored team boss also mentioned that they again want to enjoy the raceday, as they did in the 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the Yas Marina Circuit.
Talking to reporters, Brawn commented, “Although our focus at the factory has been on 2012 for some time now, at the race track we are continuing to work hard with this year's car and make improvements. Interlagos is a very unique track which presents some
unusual challenges; the high altitude location, the bumpy surface and the challenging layout all test both the drivers and engineers.”
After taking part in the 18 rounds of the ongoing season so far, Mercedes GP are placed at the fourth place with 159 points in the 2011 constructors’ standings.
On the other hand, the team driver Michael Schumacher stated that he is hopeful of getting better results from the upcoming Brazil race weekend.
The seven-time world champion added, “The team have worked very hard to improve our performance with the car that we have available to us and it would be a fitting reward for them.”
The 42-year-old driver further stated that his team is enjoying finishing in top six positions from the last few rounds, so he wants to keep this trend until the end of the ongoing season.
In the 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Schumacher came at the seventh position for the team in the final race classifications after starting from the eighth place at the Yas Marina Circuit.
Despite having a disappointing start to the season, Schumacher wants to end the season in a decent manner.
After completing 18 races of the season until now, Schumacher is sitting at the eighth position with 76 points in the 2011 drivers’ standings.
The German is looking forward to having a better raceday in Brazil this weekend.
Let’s see how he performs in the next Brazilian Grand Prix at the Sao Paulo racetrack.
