Ross Brawn: Sebastian Vettel should win Championship at 2011 Japanese GP in Suzuka – Formula 1 news
Mercedes GP boss Ross Brawn has stated that it would be great to have Sebastian Vettel seal this season’s championship at the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix.
The upcoming round of the 2011 Formula 1 season will be held from October 7-9, 2011 at the Suzuka circuit.
He said this keeping in context the recent earthquake and tsunami that struck the nation earlier in 2011. It would thus be an event that the Japanese people would be really looking forward to attend and a lot of enthusiastic Formula 1 fans would be happy
that they will be getting a chance to be a part of this race.
Brawn said, “After the tragedy which took place in the country earlier this year, we hope that the race will provide entertainment and enjoyment, and it seems somehow fitting that the championship is likely to be decided in Japan.”
After much suffering, Brawn feels that it is only fair that the country should get the honour and privilege of witnessing the crowning of this season’s Formula 1 champion.
The 56-year-old commented on the Suzuka racetrack and said, “Suzuka is a classic racing circuit which has hosted some memorable races over the years, and we are looking forward to returning to Japan next week. The recent improvements to the circuit and paddock
have made Suzuka an excellent venue, and the support that Formula One receives from the enthusiastic Japanese fans is always very impressive.”
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel, who won the 2010 Formula 1 championship, has only 1 point left to score in order to be crowned the 2011 champion as well. He could have been titled the back-to-back winner only if McLaren’s Jenson Button had not finished
the Singapore race at the second position.
The 24-year-old German driver currently tops the drivers’ championship standings with a total of 309 points to his credit.
Let’s see what happens at the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka scheduled for this weekend. Whether Vettel wins the championship or not, we will get to see that on October 9, 2011.
