Ross Brawn admires Nico Rosberg’s performance in qualifying of 2012 Chinese Grand Prix – Formula 1
Mercedes AMG team principal, Ross Brawn has admired the performance of his team driver, Nico Rosberg in the qualifying of 2012 Chinese Grand Prix held at Shanghai International Circuit on Saturday.
Rosberg has claimed his first ever pole position in the last session of the qualifying at Chinese GP. Moreover, he stayed ahead of McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton who secured two consecutive poles in the opening two races of the season held at Albert Park
in Melbourne and Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
However, the British driver has to face a five-place grid penalty because of which Rosberg’s teammate, Michael Schumacher who set the third best time in Q3 will start the race from the first row behind his compatriot.
Furthermore, Brawn appreciated Rosberg and said, “We've obviously got, at the back of our mind, that we've got to put a race together tomorrow. It was quite an exceptional lap by Nico. He hasn't had a great first couple of races in that respect and today
we saw what he can do. The middle sector he did was just incredible.”
On the other hand, the record championship holder, Schumacher also said that he is very much surprised with the pace of Rosberg during the qualifying.
In addition, it will be important to mention that Schumacher has not been able to convert his competitive grid positions into a podium finish in either of the two races in the year so far. Nevertheless, he feels quite certain for the season ahead and said
that he is waiting for a clean race.
Besides, Rosberg said that it is hard to assess where they will stand in the race on Sunday. Nonetheless, he said that he is going to try his best to make the essential preparations and necessary improvements in order to enhance his race pace.
“ I don't really know how it's going to go, I'm going to try my best and for sure I'll work hard tonight to try and do the final few details on the setup, electronically specifically, and then make the most of it,” said Rosberg.
