Ross Brawn believes Mercedes GP can score points in 2011 Singapore race weekend – Formula 1 news
Mercedes GP boss Ross Brawn has said that he believes they can score points in the upcoming Singapore race weekend, which will start from September 23, 2011 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Brawn added that the team is now well practiced at working late at night for the 2011 Singapore race.
The Petronas-sponsored team boss also mentioned that he is sure both of their drivers Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher will produce more points at the Marina Bay Street Circuit this weekend.
Talking to reporters, Brawn commented, “The Singapore Grand Prix has resoundingly become one of the most impressive events on the Formula One calendar and a unique weekend which is enjoyed by drivers, teams and fans alike. With the fourth race taking place
next weekend, we are now well-practiced at working late at night and on a European time schedule.”
He went on to mention, “The Singapore street circuit is very narrow with many first and second gear corners resulting in a low average speed and requiring a high-downforce aerodynamic package.”
The team driver Schumacher seems to have very strong results for the team since the last couple of races of the 2011 Formula 1 season held in Spa and Monza respectively. After the 2011 Spa race, the seven-time world champion was again at the fifth place
in the Italian Grand Prix after a very close fight with McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton during the race.
On the other hand, the 42-year-old driver is targeting to score more points in the upcoming Grand Prix following his strong results at the Monza racetrack.
Schumacher talked to the media and stated that he is satisfied with his team’s work during the races so far. In addition, he mentioned that he is confident Mercedes team will continue their work for their points finish until the end of the ongoing season.
The German’s teammate Rosberg was unable to stay at the Monza racetrack, as he retired from the Grand Prix at the first corner of the circuit.
Let’s see how both of the drivers manage their race with his MGP-W02 car in Singapore this weekend.
