Ross Brawn believes Mercedes will strike back in 2012 Formula 1 season – Formula 1 news
Mercedes team principal, Ross Brawn is feeling positive that they will be able to strike back in the upcoming 2012 Formula 1 season after struggling in the last two races.
Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg took his maiden victory in 2012 Chinese Grand Prix held at Shanghai International Circuit in China after claiming his first ever pole. Moreover, it will be important to mention that it is the first victory of the Brackley based
team since 1955.
However, the German driver could only secure 5th and 7th place finishes in the last two races as they faced difficulties with the tyre management.
Nonetheless, Brawn said that they will make a strong come back in the approaching races as they have been working on the car’s setup and the issues of tyres in order to gain the desired pace.
“I think it's a combination of the two, which makes it quite difficult to always understand where you are in the car and what you have to focus on to improve it. But we've done some useful progress with the car I believe, and when we get to those circuits
where it would naturally suit the car and we're in the working range of the tyres, then you'll see the performance come back again,” he said.
However, he admitted that they struggled during the last two grands prix after the successful race in China.
“But it's true the last couple of races have not been so great after we had such a wonderful weekend in China,” he said.
Mercedes are presently standing at fifth place in the constructors’ championship with 43 points. Besides, they are trying their best to make the essential developments and the significant preparations so as to enhance the pace of W03 for the forthcoming
races.
On the other hand, Michael Schumacher who has only been able to score 2 points in the season until now also expressed that he is confidently looking forward to perform well in the season ahead. Additionally, the seven-time world champion asserted that they
have a car which is competent enough to claim the championship title.
