Ross Brawn believes Michael Schumacher will return to form at Spanish Grand Prix – Formula 1 News
Mercedes GP team boss, Ross Brawn has recently updated the media with his feelings that he is hopeful that the team’s struggling driver, Michael Schumacher, will fight back on the grid in upcoming race weekend. The German had another poor race in Istanbul,
after the first three races of the 2011 season.
Brawn is sure that the recent Istanbul race day was not joyful for the team, as his team’s driver, Schumacher failed to finish his best run due to a collision with Renault’s Vitaly Petrov. As a result of the incident, the German could finish his 12th
place for Mercedes team.
Mercedes boss said, “When you have a race like that as any driver it is going to knock you back a bit. But I think he is pretty resilient and I am optimistic this weekend he will be back where we want him.”
He went on to add, “I have spoken to him since then. We had a lot of technical discussions and he was hassling about what we were doing about the car, what is coming along, what improvements we have got - so nothing has changed. We are optimistic.”
After the recent Turkish race, there were rumours about the seven-time world champion, that he did not experience ‘big joy’ at that moment. In addition, he could not gather his impressive run for the team on the grid. The Petronas-sponsored team was pushed
to re-think about his driver’s position in the remaining season.
Brawn added that he does not think that it would not be a big thing for Schumacher to get back to his best form, as he is still a very strong driver of Formula 1 sport.
He also discussed the Istanbul race weekend and admitted that the 42-year-old driver was quite strong until the final qualifying round. Then he had some problems on race day and as a result, he was unable to finish his good run on the race circuit.
Despite Schumacher’s disappointing performance in the ongoing season, Mercedes believes that he can manage mishaps during the race. They are not worried about him, as they still consider him as a fast driver.
The Spanish Grand Prix is scheduled to be held on May 22, in Barcelona.
