Ross Brawn believes Nico Rosberg is capable of winning the championship title – Formula 1 news
Mercedes team principal, Ross Brawn has said that their driver, Nico Rosberg is capable enough to fight for this year’ championship title.
Rosberg has performed quite convincingly in the season so far and is presently standing at fifth place in the drivers’ championship with 67 points. Moreover, he is ahead of Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus and behind Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing with 12 points.
Even though, he could not be able to score even a single point in the first two grands prix. However, he hit back incredibly well in the third race held at Shanghai International Circuit in China and took his maiden victory after claiming his first ever
pole position.
Furthermore, he secured fifth place finish in the fourth race at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir after setting off from the same grid position. Later, in the fifth race at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, he came 7th after starting from
6th place in the grid.
Afterwards, he delivered an inspiring performance in the sixth race at Circuit de Monaco in which he secured second podium finish.
Over and above, in the last race at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal, he came 6th after taking the start from fifth grid position.
It will be interesting to know that he has been one of the most consistent point scorers in the last five races. Therefore, Brawn believes that the veteran German driver has got the potential to become the world champion.
“Nico's driving very well, the car's extremely competitive and Nico's one win away from leading the world championship,” Brawn told the team's official YouTube channel. “We just have to fight with everything we have to achieve the best result we can and
see what evolves. But there's no reason why not.”
In addition, he said that they are ready to provide their drivers with everything which they may need in order to improve their performance in the season ahead.
Above and beyond, he said that they are trying their best to make the considerable advancements and the significant preparations so as to enhance the pace of W03 for the forthcoming races to secure a competitive position in this championship.
