Ross Brawn calls the three-day Young Driver Test successful for Mercedes – Formula 1 news
Mercedes team principal, Ross Brawn has said that they had a successful three-day Young Driver Test in France and have gathered some valuable data to evaluate the updates ahead of 2012 Singapore Grand Prix.
Brawn admired the performance of their test drivers, Sam Bird and Brendon Hartley who tested their car, W03 at Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours. He added that they intended to make the necessary assessment of their new exhaust layout and the novel double-DRS
before the Singapore GP.
Furthermore, he said that they are very much pleased with the opportunity of testing their new update package as they managed to continue their development process.
“Today sees the conclusion of a successful three day test for the team in Magny Cours with our young drivers Sam Bird and Brendon Hartley. This was an important test, allowing both drivers some important track time in a Formula One car,” he said.
In addition, he said that they are very happy with Sam and Brendon who collected the substantial information regarding the upgrades and showed tremendous commitment and devolution in their driving. He also said that they are immensely delighted with the
amount of information they have gathered so as to make the significant evaluation of their updates prior to the approaching race.
“Both Sam and Brendon have driven very well, providing good and consistent feedback, and I would like to thank them for their efforts and diligence over the last three days. We now have a wealth of data from test to study back at factory over the next few
days and in advance of forthcoming race in Singapore,” he added.
The Brackley based team had the most thriving pre-season testing programme this season as compared to the preceding one in which they could test their upgrades. Nevertheless, their hopes are high in the current season and they are confidently looking forward
to secure a competitive position in this year’s championship.
Over and above, it will be exciting to see how their driver, Michael Schumacher and his teammate, Nico Rosberg perform at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore next week.
