Ross Brawn dismisses speculations about his departure from Mercedes – Formula 1 news
Mercedes team principal, Ross Brawn has dismissed all the ongoing speculations about his departure from the Silver Arrows and asserted that he is still in charge of his squad.
Brawn has been surrounded by many rumours that he may get replaced by McLaren technical director, Paddy Lowe after Toto Wolff’s arrival in Mercedes as new executive director. However, the Briton has completely discharged all the reports and has said that
he intends to stay at his current team and is not going anywhere.
Furthermore, he said that he is only concerned with his own work and has nothing to do with the ongoing rumours about him. Besides, he said that he is not going to get involved in the routine commercial activities of the German car manufacturer.
“I am the team principal and I am in charge of sporting, technical and racing matters,” he said. “Toto is coming in and that's whole other side of the business that I don't want to get involved in. I don't want to get involved in, on a day-to-day basis,
the commercial activities and I don't want to get involved with the support we need to give Daimler on a day-to-day basis.”
In addition, he said that Toto has joined their team to do his own work which is good and they are happy to have him in their side. He also said that they are currently working on the development of their 2013 car so that they may be able to get better results
in this season.
“There are a lot of things that Toto will be doing that are complimentary to what I'm doing in terms of running the team, but you have to have one reference,” he added.
It will be important to note that the Brackley based team struggled a lot with the in-season development of their car during 2012 due to which their drivers Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg failed to score points with consistency.
It will be extremely thrilling to see how Rosberg performs alongside his new teammate, Lewis Hamilton in this year’s championship and whether they will be able to come up to the expectations of their team or not.
