Ross Brawn expects Michael Schumacher to decide about future this summer – Formula 1 news
Mercedes team principal, Ross Brawn expects their driver, Michael Schumacher to decide about the future this summer.
Schumacher’s contract with the Brackley based team is going to expire at the end of this year and he has not made any kind of clarifications about his future in the sport. Meanwhile, Brawn is expecting the veteran German driver to make decision about his
stance in the next six months.
“We will make a decision this summer,” Brawn was quoted by Autosport. “We have not talked in depth about the situation but we know it is coming and we have to make a decision soon. I think it can be driven from many different ways. I think in the next six
weeks or so we will have to think about what we want to do next year and that is the primary decision. Once that decision is made we will then know if we have to start looking around or stick with the drivers we have,” he said.
On the other hand, the record championship holder asserted that he needs time to reach to the decision about his future.
Mercedes with their perfect blend of expertise, talent and experience have emerged as one of the most competent contender in this year. At present, they are standing at 5th place in the constructors’ championship with 92 points. Besides, they
are 32 points ahead of Sauber and 30 points behind Ferrari.
Meanwhile, the seven-time world champion is presently standing at 13th position with 17 points along with Nico Hulkenberg of Force India. Additionally, he is just 1 point ahead of Bruno Senna of Williams and 4 points behind Kamui Kobayashi of
Sauber.
Although he struggled during the start of the season with some technical issues in W03 and was retired in five out of first seven grands prix. Nevertheless, he made a striking comeback in the European Grand Prix held at Valencia Street Circuit in Spain and
secured third podium finish after setting off from 12th grid position.
Above and beyond, he is positively looking forward to perform well in the British GP which is to be held at Silverstone Circuit this week.
