Ross Brawn feels confident about Mercedes stay in F1 – Formula 1 news
Mercedes team principal, Ross Brawn is feeling confident that they will stay in Formula 1 and has said that they are getting close towards accepting the new Concorde Agreement.
Bernie Ecclestone, the chief executive officer of F1, has been saying that all the contenders are ready to sign the new deal from 2013 to 2020. However, he insisted that the conversations with the Brackley based team have not been very good.
Furthermore, Mercedes have been quite reluctant to sign the new agreement because they think that the financial terms are not quite in their favour.
Nonetheless, Brawn has recently said that they are having discussion within the team regarding the new deal and asserted that they will remain in the game while he said that they are coming close to the contract.
"There's no doubt," Brawn said when asked if Mercedes would remain in the sport. "We've had some tough discussions and I've no doubt that we will be able to close those discussions soon and obviously that's a high level of commitment. I think Mercedes are
very committed to F1."
In addition, he said that they are presently having some conversation with Bernie also and are hoping to come up with something positive in the near future.
Besides, he said that he has no plans to retire soon from the sport while he said that he is eagerly looking forward to their engine programme of 2014 which according to him will change the future of F1.
He also said that he really loves engineering. Additionally, he said that he has always felt great excitement about developing new engines and designing the update packages. Over and above, he said that he wants to carry on his career in the world of F1
and is trying his best to show up stronger in the upcoming years.
"I'm not planning to retire at the moment. I'm very excited about this 2014 engine programme, I think it's quite a game changer in F1. I still have strong engineering passion so having such different engine and package in 2014 is exciting. Developing a team
is something I want to do," he added
It will be interesting to see how the Silver Arrow will perform in the season ahead.
