Ross Brawn insists Lewis Hamilton will not get any preference over Nico Rosberg – Formula 1 news
Mercedes team principal, Ross Brawn has said that Lewis Hamilton, who is currently in McLaren, will not get any kind of preference over their driver, Nico Rosberg when he will join their team in 2013.
Hamilton’s contract with the British squad is going to end at the conclusion of this season and he has recently confirmed that he is going to move to the Brackley based team in the next year instead of renewing his deal with his current team. Moreover, he
will be replacing Michael Schumacher whose future is still undecided in the sport.
There have been many rumours that the 2008 world champion will overshadow his teammate, Rosberg in every aspect of the game as he is a better driver and will be treated preferentially by the Silver Arrows. However, Brawn has clarified that the Briton has
not demanded any kind of special treatment in his agreement and will receive equal opportunities in the team.
“Lewis never asked for any priority at all, he just asked for equality,” Brawn told Autosport. “He was pleasant in that he had no desires to have any special treatment or any unique facilities. Lewis just expects to have an equal opportunity in team, as
we would like to do as well.”
Besides, he said that Hamilton didn’t talk anything about how he wants to be treated in the team. He also said that he is impressed by the British driver after the negotiations and admired his passion towards racing.
“The conversation was relatively short in that area and I was impressed that he was positive enough to take that view and not attempt to protect some sort of position which would have been quite difficult for team to accept. We never got into a discussion
because Lewis didn't raise it,” he added.
In addition, he said that he is feeling confident that the 27-year-old will take the team towards new heights and their next year’s driver-up line is capable enough of winning the world championship titles.
It will be interesting to see how Rosberg and Hamilton will perform in the coming year.
