Ross Brawn insists Mercedes will not give up in title fight – Formula 1 news
Mercedes team principal, Ross Brawn has said that the title race is still very much open and they are looking forward to perform well in the forthcoming races so as to make their mark stronger in the championship.
Lewis Hamilton performed incredibly well in the Hungarian Grand Prix and claimed his maiden win with the Silver Arrows after securing the pole position. He showed some amazing moves during the race to pass Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing and Jenson Button
of McLaren and managed his tyres really well in the hot conditions at the Hungaroring.
Brawn has insisted that they are very much in the title fight and are feeling more confident after scoring victory in the previous race. Moreover, he admired the performance of all his team members and expressed that they have worked really hard in the season
so far to make the significant developments in their car to compete well with their rivals.
“It is so fragile,” Brawn told Autosport. “I think it is still open and we certainly won't be giving up. This was a very good weekend for the team - from beginning to end. We had a very good programme on Friday. The balance wasn't great but we did things
on Friday and Saturday that helped.”
In addition, he stated that they need to provide competent car to both their drivers, Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, so that they may be able to score competitive points with consistency in the season ahead.
“If we can replicate that there is no reason why we cannot win more races. If we don't replicate it then we won't,” he added. “But we have to get both cars to the finish. We didn't do that here and you have to have both cars right up there.”
Besides, he said that they are extremely happy with their performance in the season until now and are confidently targeting to come up even stronger in the approaching races.
At present, the Brackley based squad are standing at second place in the constructors’ championship with 208 points. Let’s see how they perform in the upcoming races and whether they will be able to beat the Milton Keynes based team or not.
