Ross Brawn predicts Sebastian Vettel will go down the same route as Michael Schumacher – Formula 1
Ross Brawn who helped Michael Schumacher turn into a dominant force says the true quality of Sebastian Vettel will be shown when he is presented with a slower car than his opponents.
The new world champion has become the youngest ever double world champion, but there are some critics who have shed some doubt over how good Vettel really is when compared to the greats.
Brawn has suggested that his true class will only be shown if he gets a slower car than his opponents, just like Schumacher did when he turned an uncompetitive Ferrari team into title challengers.
He also said that Vettel should himself might be looking into this matter.
“For Sebastian, what will come now, which will be an interesting phase of his career, will be when he has not got the best car,” Brawn was quoted by Autosport.com.
“I think you have a fantastic driver in the best car, and that combination is unbeatable. It will be interesting to see Sebastian's role, Sebastian's influence, Sebastian's position when perhaps he does not have the best car, he has to make it the best car,
and has to create the best car,” he further added.
Although Brawn also felt that this is not the time when Vettel will be looking into moving to another team for some fresh challenge, rather later when he feels he has accomplished enough and requires a new challenge for competitive racing.
Just like for Schumacher, his motivation was to go to Ferrari and turn their side into a winning team, just like that Vettel will be looking into it. At the moment, everyone thinks that Vettel is doing a great job but it is a fact that Red Bull is a leading
car at the moment. Vettel’s ambitions might lure him into taking a decision to go for a team with a less competitive car. Let’s see what transpires in the years to come.
