Ross Brawn says Lewis Hamilton has all the attributes to become a world champion – Formula 1 news
Mercedes team principal, Ross Brawn has said that their driver, Lewis Hamilton has proven that he has got all the attributes to become a world champion.
Hamilton signed a deal with the Brackley based squad during the last season and has replaced Michael Schumacher for the 2013 Formula 1 season. In contrast, the seven-time world champion has retired from the sport.
Even though, Mercedes had a reliable pre-season testing programme during the preceding season in which they successfully managed to develop a competitive car. However, they failed to make the in-season developments in their car due to which Schumacher and
his team, Nico Rosberg could not score points with consistency.
Despite facing immense difficulties in the previous year, Brawn has said that they are positively looking forward to come up stronger right from the start of this season.
In addition, he has expressed full confidence in his driver line-up. He also said that top drivers are hard to find and they feel lucky enough to have such competent drivers in their team.
“The very top drivers rarely become available - it is not like having a list and you can tick off the qualities that you are looking for,” explained Brawn of how he had arrived at his selection. “They all have strengths and weaknesses like everybody does
in our business.”
Besides, he admired the talent and driving skills of the 2008 world champion. Additionally, he said that the British driver is very quick and has all the qualities to claim the title.
“Lewis is a fantastic driver from a speed, competitiveness and racing perspective,” Brawn told the official Formula 1 website. “He is an incredibly quick driver. He is very passionate about the sport and what he does. He has all the attributes you need to
be a world champion - he's proven that.
Moreover, he said that their aim is to keep on making the essential advancements in their car throughout the season so as to compete well with their rivals. Let’s see whether the Silver Arrows will be able to resolve their reliability issues or not and how
Hamilton and Rosberg perform in this year’s championship.
