Ross Brawn says ‘MGP-W02’ is a good car: Formula 1 Update
Mercedes' GP boss, Ross Brawn, believes that his team has a good ‘MGP-W02’ car. Just the kind of engine that the drivers need to achieve full throttle during their races.
Brawn said, "The team and drivers have worked extremely hard in the short break before the European season begins to ensure that we continue to move forward. We have a fundamentally good
car and we need to achieve its full potential in the races to come. The Chinese Grand Prix reminded everyone at the team what it is like to fight for a race.”
Mercedes took part in 2011 season, with high expectations, but due to various issues with their new machine, both the drivers could not fulfil their team’s expectations during the season’s
first two races. However, the Petronas-sponsored team needs to push for more improvements in its races, if they are willing to compete regularly at the front Formula 1 championships.
The team's boss further added, "We didn't succeed on that occasion but it's a feeling that we would like to experience more often. When the car is working properly, we can be more competitive
and the solutions we are bringing to Turkey will help us achieve this level more consistently.”
After the Chinese Grand Prix, Mercedes’ team has been found busy on the drawing board, working on their new car for better and improved results in the upcoming races of this season.
In the recent race weekend in 2011 China Grand Prix, the team's second driver, Nico Rosberg, finished his fifth fastest run ahead of top runners of the race. His impressive performance in
China race, made the team much hopeful for the remainder of the season. While, Rosberg’s team-mate, Michael Schumacher, again failed to deliver his best run on the grid in Shanghai, after the Australia and Malaysia race. Due to some fuel consumption issue
in his car, Schumi managed to finish in the eighth place for Mercedes.
A few days ago, Mercedes' motorsport boss, Norbert Haug, shared his perception with the media and said that the new ‘MGP-W02’ engine is the most powerful among all the other Formula 1 engines,
as it still has a huge potential to compete with all strong teams of the season.
He compared his car engine with Renault and added that it might be possible that Renault has a more competent engine than Mercedes. But, he is very pleased with Mercedes ‘V8’ performance,
as it showed its high reliability on the track, over the Chinese Grand Prix. However, Mercedes' team is expecting a more improving run in the season’s fourth race, which is to be held to be in Turkey, on May 8.
