Ross Brawn says Mercedes has improved as compared to the last year – Formula 1 news
Ross Brawn team principal of Mercedes is of the view that F1 W03 has improved compared to the last year and the research data will be useable in the next year as well.
He said that although they had some difficulties but still he believes that they have improved as compared to the last year.
Furthermore, he said that have already researched and have record for the current year, which can be passed on to the next year, in order to improve the car. He said that as there are no significant changes in the designs for the next year the researched
data can be used for the following 2013 season, therefore they will keep working on introducing improvements for their car, and further improvements will be introduced considering the research data collected from the current season.
“We’ve had some difficulties, but we have improved compared to last year,” the team principal said. “And we have a good basis for designing next year’s car, when the regulations will be essentially the same as this season.”
He added, “So we are going to continue to develop the current car because that knowledge can be passed on to 2013.”
Mercedes has kept itself competitive by introducing improvements to their F1 W03. The recent update was introduced on July 28th, 2012 in which they introduced modifications to their front wing.
Mercedes was the pioneer to introduce the double DRS despite the fact that it was an expensive modification. It has now been decided by the drivers that the double DRS system will not be used in the 2013 season.
In the championship, they are holding 2nd place with 193 points after Red Bull Racing at 246 championship points. There is a close competition between McLaren and Lotus as Lotus holds 3rd place with 192 points.
Michael Schumacher is a driver of Mercedes and has an impressive record of attaining championship 7 times. However, in the current season he has not been able to prove his skills on the circuit. He has retired 6 times in the current season.
Despite the deteriorating performances of the senior driver the team principal has decided that nothing will be announced in urgency about the retirement of the 7 times world champion and it will be decided in the appropriate time.
