Ross Brawn says Red Bull’s delight will be short lived as pressure doubles for 2013 – Formula 1 news
Mercedes team principal, Ross Brawn, has stated that Red Bull’s joy over winning the championship for a consecutive third time will be short lived as the pressure stays on for the next year.
“To win a race is a massive challenge, to win enough races to win a championship is pretty special, and to do it consecutive years is even more special,” said Brawn. “But I know their pleasure is going to be short lived in that they are already thinking
about next year.”
Brawn also gave the reference of his time with Ferrari when the team was leading the others.
He said, “In our case, it was fantastic to win it, but always there is the pressure of the following year - you want to win it, repeat it, and do it again.”
He said that the F1 sport has an intense environment where you can never sit back and relax; you have to constantly develop and improve to continue your success for season after season. He said that while victories always make you proud but they also increase
your fear of failure in the future. However, he is of the opinion that it is indeed a huge achievement of Red Bull of which they should certainly be proud and enjoy it.
Red Bull Racing has not only achieved the third consecutive constructors’ championship but their ace driver Sebastian Vettel has become the youngest triple champion at the end of this season. While the drivers’ title was decided during the very last race
in Brazil this weekend, Red Bull was successful in securing the constructors’ championship in the penultimate race in Austin. The team has now become the fourth one to do so in the history of F1. Ferrari achieved a similar success with Michael Schumacher who
has won seven titles in total. Other two teams to have achieved similarly are McLaren and Williams F1.
Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner, has stated that this is their biggest achievement to date and what makes it even more special is the fact that they did it in a short span of eight years.
