Ross Brawn says decision of Michael Schumacher’s retirement is very important – Formula 1 news
Ross Brawn, principal of team Mercedes says that the decision of retirement of Michael Schumacher is very critical to all of the people involved.
He said that the decision related to the retirement of the German driver is sensitive in nature for the team and will only be made in the right time.
Furthermore, he added that neither they want to make any decision in a rush nor they want to increase the guesswork related to their team.
Currently, as the drivers are either renewing their contracts or signing contracts with different teams the team Mercedes will be left with a few options if Schumacher retires.
Talking to the official website of Formula 1, Brawn said, “I think this is a very important decision for all the people involved. We won’t be rushed on the decision and when the time is appropriate we will announce what we are going to do. I don’t want to
increase speculation by commenting on where we are.”
He added that their drivers are very professional and are very committed. Brawn said that such good qualities are not easy to achieve with drivers. Furthermore, he said that the Mercedes drivers have good capabilities with the wheels if they are provided
with the right equipment.
Michael Schumacher, currently in his early 40s, joined team Mercedes in 2010 for a second stint in Formula 1. In the 2010 season, he could attain only 72 points by the end of the drivers’ championship and held 9th place.
In the 2011 season, the German driver could not finish 5 out of the 19 races he started but his performance improved as he was able to attain 76 points in the drivers’ championship. In the current 2012 season before the summer break, he has retired from
6 out of the 11 races he has started and has only been able to attain 29 points.
Despite the bad luck, the seven-time champion and his team are hopeful that they will be able to regroup for the remainder of the season.
The next Belgian Grand Prix will be his 300th grand prix in Formula 1 and he will looking to make the most out of it.
