Ross Brawn says he has no plans to step down as Mercedes team principal in 2014 – Formula 1 News
Mercedes team principal, Ross Brawn has discharged all the speculations suggesting he might step down from his position at the end of the 2013 Formula 1 season
and asserted that he has no such plans.
Paddy Lowe joined the Brackley based squad in this season as technical director and many reports suggested that he will take over Brawn in the next year as team
principal. However, the 58-year-old has said that currently he has no plans to leave his team at the conclusion of this season.
Furthermore, he said that they are in a very good form at the moment and he is really enjoying their development process for the season ahead. Besides, he said
that there are going to be some radical changes in the technical regulations in the next season for which they must prepare well. Therefore, he is very much looking forward to stay at his team for the coming year.
“We're in good shape for next year. I wouldn't want to miss the fun,” Brawn was quoted by BBC Sport. “This is a big regulation change and the full package of the
car; not just aerodynamics like we've had before. If you didn't start on it a year ago, you're in trouble.”
Meanwhile, the 51-years-old has also expressed that Brawn will stay in the team for the next year and he will take over only when the Briton decides to leave post.
“Ross is team principal at the moment,” Lowe said. “We don't know how long he will want to remain team principal. Those plans aren't made. I have come in to strengthen
team in its existing form, which I can do.”
“In the meantime there's a lot to do and I'm very comfortable with that,” he added.
Currently, the Silver Arrows are standing at second place in the constructors’ championship with 171 points. In addition, they are ahead of Ferrari and behind the
defending champions, Red Bull Racing. Both their drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, have perform impressively well in the season until now.
It will be exciting to see how they perform in the German Grand Prix this weekend.
