Ross Brawn says they do not want to comment on Lewis Hamilton’s move to Mercedes – Formula 1 news
Team principal of Mercedes Ross Brawn remains tight lipped over the speculation that Lewis Hamilton will be replacing Michael Schumacher in the next 2013 Formula 1 season.
He commented that Mercedes is still unsure about it decision related to Schumacher in the next season. In the next few years, Mercedes wants to achieve a place which may attract most of the drivers to drive for the team.
He told that some time still remains in the finalizing the decision related to its drivers.
Brawn said, “We don't comment on speculation, I'm afraid. When we make our driver decision you'll be the first to hear about it, but it's still some way off.”
Brawn further told that they are on their way to finalize discussions with Schumacher related to 2013 and they are not in a hurry. The discussions may take some more time.
The team principal believes that the 7 times champion has a lot to offer, as he performs whenever he gets a chance. He added that the car the German driver had was not as strong as it should have been. Besides, he said that the talent of veteran driver makes
him an asset of Mercedes.
“I'm very happy with Michael's performance this year and with these technical challenges we are going to face in 2014, someone with Michael's experience and calibre would be a great asset to any team. Particularly our team,” he added.
Schumacher told that they will be breaking news about his next step by the end of October. He did not say anything related to Hamilton’s contract with Mercedes for the next season.
Brawn is of the view that Mercedes should get back to its remarkable history and they are working at it. He believes that they would achieve their desire that every driver would consider driving for the team.
Furthermore, the team principal told that they would be introducing changes in their plans over the next few years which would facilitate them in achieving their targets.
Moreover, he commented that most of the drivers want to drive for Red Bull Racing as it is an impressive team. He added that he wants Mercedes to be at such a place. Achieving such a place in Formula 1 is their target.
