Ross Brawn takes the blame for Mercedes GP failure so far in 2011 Formula 1 season
Mercedes GP team principal Ross Brawn has recently admitted that it is his fault that the team failed to secure a single victory up until now since its debut in the sport in 2010.
“Yes, I've made some mistakes. My choices were not always perfect, the transition (from Brawn GP to Mercedes) has taken too long. At the factory we undertook two difficult tasks in parallel: correcting the problems with the car and simultaneously making
improvements to the structure in order to avoid problems in the future,” he said.
Brawn GP, a team introduced by Ross Brawn won the championship in its very first season in the sport in 2009 after which the team principal decided to make a transition from Brawn GP to Mercedes GP. This transition unfortunately has not been successfully
despite the fact that the team has drivers like Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg.
“[The drivers] have done a good job and at the moment they can't get any more out of the car... We will reap the rewards in the future. Certainly, my family and I are secure financially, but I will not stop until Mercedes is winning races again,” said Brawn.
The team principal added that this failure is not his drivers’ fault as both of them have been trying their best to score good results and until Mercedes GP becomes successful, he would not be satisfied.
Schumacher, the seven-time former world champion decided to return to the sport because of the fact that Brawn were leading Mercedes GP and since Brawn GP secured the titles in 2009, the German driver got tempted and decided to make a return to the sport
after 3 years of retirement.
He was hoping of ‘improving’ his statistics even more but unfortunately, he has not been able to secure a single podium position up until now and the team is still struggling to perform consistently.
Brawn claims that he will take the team to the top but for that, he would now have to wait for another year since the team’s chances of scoring good results this year are bleak.
