Ross Brawn thinks Michael Schumacher has suffered due to some bad fortune this year – Formula 1 news
Mercedes team principal, Ross Brawn thinks that their driver, Michael Schumacher has suffered in the 2012 Formula 1 season due to some bad fortune.
Schumacher has retired in six out of first eleven grands prix in the current season so far. Although, he has delivered competitive performances in the qualifying of many races with the use of W03’s novel DRS activated F-duct device. Conversely, he struggled
with some technical issues in his car and could not capitalize on his competitive grid slots.
Brawn said that the seven-time world champion has been unlucky as he faced issues without his own fault. Furthermore, he said that there has been something going wrong with the team’s operations due to which the veteran German driver is facing difficulties
and they totally take the responsibility for it.
Moreover, he said that although the record championship holder has enjoyed a long period of success but unfortunately he is going through a tough time at present. However, he said that there is nothing to believe in luck as only the work pays off.
“It was very unlucky for Michael - the problems that he had - but these problems have had a cause,” he said. “There has been a reason why they've occurred, which has nothing to do with Michael. So the fact is that something went wrong - and when something
goes wrong it's the responsibility of me and the team to not allow it to go wrong again. He had that many years perhaps benefiting from good fortune and this year he has some poor fortune, but I prefer not to believe in luck - not in motor racing.”
Presently, the legendary driver is standing at 12th place in the drivers’ championship with 29 points and is sharing the position with Pastor Maldonado of Williams. Additionally, he is behind Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber and is ahead of Paul di Resta
of Force India.
It will be notable that after securing third podium finish in the European GP, he is feeling motivated to perform well in the remaining season. Let’s see how the iconic driver comes up in the races ahead.
