Ross County caretaker boss wants role permanently
Ross County caretaker manager Craig Brewster says that he would be keen to take over the role at the Scottish First Division club permanently.
The position was vacated when former manager Derek Adams left to become assistant boss to Colin Calderwood at Scottish Premier League club Hibernian on 11 November, and assistant Brewster stepped up to take temporary charge of the side.
When asked by a reporter by the BBC if he was keen on taking over the manager's position at the club, who Adams led to the Scottish Cup final last season, Brewster said, "Absolutely. It is a super little club, great facilities and last year's campaign in
the Scottish Cup really put the club to the fore. Expectations have grown a little, but we haven't matched those up until now this season.
"The problem is that we have won three league games out of 13 and only scored nine goals in 13 games, so that tells you everything."
Former Dundee United and Inverness Caledonian Thistle boss Brewster added that the departure of Adams had come out of the blue and stunned everyone at County, as they had not expected him to become an assistant after turning down offers to manage other SPL
clubs.
He said, "I think it was a big shock to everybody. I think, if he had went as manager somewhere then fine, but I think going as an assistant probably shocked everyone. On the Thursday, he came in and told the guys he was leaving and they were a bit stunned."
Meanwhile, former St Mirren boss Gus MacPherson has been interviewed for the manager's job at Victoria Park. The 42-year-old was sacked by the Buddies at the end of the 2009-10 campaign after being at the helm for almost seven years.
