Ross Fisher switches lanes to endorse Nike Golf ahead of Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship

England’s prolific golfer Ross Fisher has now decided to switch over to the world’s number one sports equipment manufacturer Nike and will now be seen dressed in the Nike Golf apparel from head to toe in his next appearance.
He will also be playing with Nike’s top-edge clubs and irons, further endorsing his brand new sponsor’s credibility in equipment manufacturing.
Fisher said in his press statement, “Just looking at the history of Nike, it’s all about innovative products that are designed specifically for athletes. Nike Golf is the same. At Nike, golfers are athletes”.
The 31-year-old Englishman has been one of the strong forces on the European Tour since the start of his professional career.
A four-time winner on the European Tour, Fisher has considerably influenced European and English victories at the Ryder Cup as well as the Seve Trophy.
His latest victory came in the 2010 Irish Open where he took over the grizzled Padraig Harrington by two strokes.
He remained off the headlines last year, despite his strong performances in several events.
In his 25 starts last year, he was only able to pull in three top-ten finishes and has been lurking in obscurity for the moment.
Switching equipment with Nike’s renowned cutting-edge technology might bring the much-awaited breath of fresh air for the Englishman.
He added, “My first priority this year is to get back into the world’s top 50, and with the backing and support of my coaches and the team at Nike Golf, I am sure that it’s a realistic goal. I’m really bombing it with the VR Pro Limited Edition driver and I’m looking forward to putting all the new gear into play”.
Fisher is poised at 107th on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) and needs a desperate surge in his position in order to qualify for the Ryder Cup event, scheduled in October this year.
Fisher was part of the 2010 winning European Team and has also been part of the winning European Team for the Seve Trophy in 2009 and 2011.
Fisher further said that he wants to be part of the recent surge in European and especially English golf, and hopes to return to the Medinah Country Club for this year’s episode of the Ryder Cup.
The Englishman is famous for his long and precise drives off the tee and also won the cumulative score for the majors in 2009, after he made the cut in all the four majors. He was one stroke better than Swede Henrik Stenson.
Mark Thaxton, Global Director of Sports Marketing Operations for Nike Golf also spoke on the occasion and said that the Nike team is excited to welcome Fisher on board. He vowed to make sure that the Englishman is equipped with the best equipment in the business.
