The Black Caps' captain is of the view that Bracewell is not lesser than Cummins despite being 3-years older than the Kangaroo boy. He opines that the Tauranga-born pacer should not be underestimated, and should be given his due status in International cricket.
Talking to the local media today, Taylor said, “Not a lot of people would have heard of Doug Bracewell, it's a famous name in New Zealand and he got a five-for on debut as well.”
He further told, “He might not be 18 but he's only just turned 21 and he can bowl with some high heat. I'm sure he'll be looking forward to bowling in bouncier conditions than we got in Bulawayo."
Bracewell played his first Test match earlier this month against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045. He stunned all by bowling well and taking 6 wickets, steering his side to win the gamy by 34 runs. This outstanding performance could not catch the eye of international media as such;
however, it impressed the Kiwi selectors who mandated the youngster to stay in the squad for future series.
The 21-year-old played 2 ODIs and T20Is each in Zimbabwe, bagging 3 and 4 scalps respectively. At the domestic level, he has 18 First-Class, 16 List A and 15 T20 games to his name.
Now, Bracewell is going to show his guts against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in a two-Test series, starting from December 1. He will be looking to perform well and cement his place in the team.
Taylor, who took the captaincy baton from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011, hopes that the pacer will prove to be a precious asset for Black Caps on the bowling-friendly
Australian wickets.
