New Zealand skipper, Ross Taylor, has come out in support of the all-rounder, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JD-Ryder-c1679, and feels that the left-hander still has a lot of cricket left in him.
Jesse took an indefinite break from international cricket earlier this year as he was not enjoying the game to the fullest. The 27-year-old cricketer from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wellington-c864 cited psychological reasons for the break.
The left-hander opted to play for Pune http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861 in the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has been doing a good job for the franchise till date. Ryder has so far scored 224 runs in the season at an impressive average of 32 runs per innings,
with the help of a couple of half-centuries.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 selectors have made it clear that Ryder will not be selected for the national team, until or unless he proves his commitment to the game and for New Zealand cricket.
However, the Kiwi skipper is still backing Ryder to come good at the highest stage of the game. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils.  The right-handed middle-order batsman met Ryder during the tournament and is
quite positive that the all-rounder can still contribute for the Black Caps.
“We’re still waiting on Jesse. As long as he keeps improving, if he can show he can do that (scoring) for a consistent period of time, he will be back in the team. I had a brief chat with him, Jesse is a pretty relaxed type of character. I haven’t talked
to the selectors. He’s still got a bit to go. If he continues on the upward spiral, he is not far away,” said Taylor.
There are still a lot of matches to be played in the fifth season of the league and Ryder has a chance to prove his worth to the selectors by scoring some big ones.
Taylor further commented about IPL and said that it is a great idea as many cricketers get a chance to prove their worth in the cash-rich league.
“Some of the players won’t get much of a go in other parts like the (English) county, they are getting their chance here,” he added.
