Ross Taylor disappointed on missing out on a century
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 was annoyed with himself after he failed to capitalise on the start he got.
Taylor was dismissed for 78 runs on the first day of the second Test match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wellington-c864.
Even though the star Kiwi batsman was disappointed after he failed to make a ton, the runs he scored were crucial for his team. Taylor had been out of form in Test cricket and could manage only one 30-plus score in his last eight innings.
Taylor was aggressive at the start of his innings and played steadily after he settled down. He said, “I went out there and tried to play as aggressively as possible without being reckless. I was 10 or 15 pretty quickly, probably off a run a ball, and settled
into my innings from there.”
Commenting on his performance, Taylor said that he tried to play as straight as possible. He said that the wicket was good for batting and just a few balls swung.
Talking to the media, he said, “When you play straight, more often than not you give yourself the best possible chance. I haven't felt out of nick, I just haven't scored the runs and today I should have scored and got three figures but I didn't do that.”
The Kiwi team was under intense pressure from their media after their humiliating defeat against Pakistan in the first Test match by 10 wickets. Taylor was also disappointed at the result and said that the batsmen needed to apply themselves which they did
not.
Talking about the chances of his team in the second Test, Taylor stated, “I guess whatever total we end up with, we've got to decide where we've got bowl - I think it's that touch fuller - and almost do what they did to us. I wouldn't say it was negative
but it was trying to bore you out.”
New Zealand are trailing the two-match Test series 0-1 and will be trying their level best to at least draw the second Test and prevent the visitors from going away with a series win.
