The New Zealand skipper, Ross Taylor, was proud of his players after the Kiwis made a stunning comeback in the two-match Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, winning the second Test at Hobart by seven runs to draw the series 1-1.
With the seven-run win at Hobart on December 12, 2011, New Zealand broke their run of being winless on Australian soil for 26 years.
Delighted with the win, Ross Taylor said that the victory against the Tran-Tasmanian rivals was an advance Christmas present for the New Zealand public.
"That was for the New Zealand public, an early Christmas present if you like,” said an ecstatic Taylor after the Doug Bracewell-led Kiwi attack took the side home on the day four of the Hobart Test.
“The New Zealand public knows that the cricket team is always the underdog when it plays Australia but they don't like it when they don't show much fight. But we showed a lot of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Arthur-Mitchell-c45902 today," he added further.
New Zealand had lost the first Test in Brisbane by nine wickets and looked done for, with the hosts needing just 169 runs to win on the fourth day of the Test with 10 wickets in hand. However, Bracewell scythed through the solid Australian line up to bundle
out the hosts out for 233 to secure a nerve jangling seven-run win. Bracewell returned with stunning figures of 6 for 40 in 16.4 overs and was adjudged as the Man of the Match.
"The only thing I try and instil in the players is fight and pride and playing for your country. We didn't show much fight in Brisbane but we showed a lot of guts and determination out there today,” said the top-order batsman.
"We believed in ourselves that we could win this match, we knew we had to fight and take our catches and bowl in the right areas and we'll get our reward and that's what happened," he added.
Replying to a query regarding the wicket at Bellerive Oval, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 said that it was a difficult wicket to bat on as the ball was still turning and moving on day four.
Taylor also lavished praise on the star performer of the day, Bracewell, saying that it was an outstanding spell for a 21-year-old guy playing only his third Test.
