The 27-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/John-Briggs-c67453 will most probably come at the top of Kiwi batting order. The right-handed batsman will now have the weight of expectations thrust upon him like never before and Taylor himself conceded,
"Being a stand-in doesn't have the same pressures - there are a lot of extra responsibilities for whoever has the job fulltime," while talking to the media reporters.
New Zealand is scheduled to play Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 next year.
A good thing for the Black Caps is that two of their next three series are against the low ranked, Zimbabwe, who are just coming back into the longer format of the game after a gap of six years.
“We're eighth in the Test rankings,” said Taylor. “If we can be somewhere from fourth to sixth in 12 months I think that would be a realistic goal. That's something I think we can attain in the next 12 to 18 months,” he added further.
Taylor’s first assignment as the full-time New Zealand skipper will be the tour of Zimbabwe. The semi-finalists of the 2011 World Cup will then play the mighty Aussies down under before coming back to home to host Zimbabwe across
all the three formats of the game.
