http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LRPL-Taylor-c1849 may miss the rest of the tour – Cricket News Update
Ross http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 captain, is likely to be ruled out of the rest of the Caribbean tour because of a shoulder injury which he faced in the first T20 of the series at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill.
The middle-order batsman, while attempting a catch, fell down heavily on his left shoulder and was visibly in great pain.
The Kiwis are presently going through a rebuilding phase and Taylor is without doubt their best batsman. The series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 is the start of a new season for the Black Caps and the absence of the aggressive cricketer is surely going to hamper
their progress, especially because the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World T20 2012 is just round the corner.
New Zealand lost the two-match T20 series by a margin of 0-2 and they are in for more trouble because their regular vice-captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BB-McCullum-c1129, is also not part of the squad for the tour.
The five-match One Day International series between the two teams is going to commence from Thursday at Jamaica, which will be followed by two Test matches.
The Kiwi skipper expressed that he may miss out on international cricket for about a month but the batsman is keen to rejoin the squad before the Test series. However, Taylor is waiting for the final reports to get an idea about the severity of the injury.
"Depending on the severity of the injury, [I'll miss] anywhere between two and six weeks. I haven't given myself a timeframe, hopefully no longer than the Test matches. We'll have a better assessment in the next week or so, then I'll have a better idea of
where I'm at. If I'm looking positive then I'll stay on, if not then I'll obviously come home," he said.
The 28-year-old is extremely frustrated because of the injury as he has already missed out on a lot of cricket due to fitness issues.
Taylor expressed, "It's been a frustrating six months for me, to be honest," he said. "I haven't spent a lot of time on the paddock and missed a lot more cricket than I would have liked."
