Ross Taylor stresses the need for New Zealand to play spin well – Cricket News Update
New Zealand skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LRPL-Taylor-c1849 has stressed the need for his team to play spin well, in order to manage a good showing not only against the West Indies in their T20I series scheduled to begin today in Florida, but also against Pakistan and Bangladesh in
the ICC World T20 later this year.
“Playing spin is going to be crucial, not only here and in the West Indies but on the subcontinent,” Taylor insisted. “Our first two games [at the world T20] are against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747, so playing spin is going to be key.”
The Kiwis tour of the West Indies will be preceded by a 2-match T20 series, scheduled to be played at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida – a bid to promote the development of cricket in the United States.
The upcoming matches mark the second international cricket event the stadium has played host too – however, the pitch at Lauderhill is known for being notoriously slow, resulting in dull, low-scoring  matches with a minimum of boundaries. The last two matches
played at the venue were between New Zealand and Sri Lanka – the Kiwis managed a total of 120 in the first match, and a mere 81 in the second.
Although http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 Cricket have sent groundsmen to the venue to liven up the pitch, it is still expected to be a low, slow surface, where spinners will hold sway while batsmen struggle to rack up the runs.
In this regard, Taylor believes it is essential for his batsmen to learn to tackle the spinners. The Black Caps will be relying on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915’s men will have to
deal with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sunil-Philip-Narine-c91869.
After an impressive debut against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 recently.
However, with the pitch at Lauderhill expected to mirror the Caribbean tracks, Narine is likely to come out in full force. Anticipating the spin barrage in what are expected to be familiar conditions for the West Indies, Taylor pinpointed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KS-Williamson-c1813
and  http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dean-Brownlie-c1349 as the two batsmen who have the potential to match up to the spinners.
“Those two players are very good players of spin, and playing T20 is not always about hitting boundaries,” Taylor said. “It's about rotating the strike. If necessary, they can hit a big ball but can rotate it around as well.”
The T20 series is due to be followed by an ODI and Test series in the West Indies. The Windies tour will be succeeded by the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 this September.
