Fresh from a 2-0 Test series whitewash at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JDP-Oram-c1681 to change the fortunes of Kiwis as they gear up to take on the Men in Blue in the opening T20 International of the two-match series, in Visakhapatnam, on Saturday, September 8, 2012.
Former skipper Daniel Vettori, all-rounder Jacob Oram and medium pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KD-Mills-c1781 are all set to join the remainder of the Test team in the two-T20 series after missing the Test leg of the itinerary.
Whilst Mills and Oram have not played a five-dayer since 2009, all-rounder Vettori missed the two-Test series due to a groin injury, he had suffered in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JS-Patel-c1747 had replaced him in the Test squad.
Welcoming the arrival of a string of fresh talent, the Black Caps skipper, Ross Taylor hoped the trio’s experience of playing in the subcontinent conditions will help them get into groove ahead of the World T20 Championship, commencing in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, from September 18.
"New players bring in new energy. Now we are looking forward to it," said the New Zealand skipper while speaking to media persons on the eve of first match, in Visakhapatnam today.
"We have some experienced players in the squad in Oram, Vettori, Mills who have played a lot of cricket in sub-continent. We would like to see how they go in the next couple of games and also in the World Twenty20," he added further.
New Zealand boasts an impressive record against India in the shortest format of game. To date, they have played three T20 Internationals against the Men in Blue winning all of them. However, Taylor is not reading much into the past records.
"It's a record we all would like to keep,” said the 28-year-old Wellington-born middle order batsman. “But all those games were overseas - two at home and one in World Twenty20 in 2007. The Indian team play very well at home. They know the conditions well," he added further.
He however hoped the experience of playing in the Indian Premier League would help them, come the opening T20 International at Visakhapatnam, on Saturday.
