Question:

Rossi wins ............ Stoner crys .............?

We all know the result, but what do you think of Casey's comments after the race ?

I feel that the only " not clean " overtake was on lap 2 going into the corkscrew where Vale ran on to the dirt just to stay on, other then that all the moves where amazing.

The " staying round the outside " on turn 5 [ I think it was 5 ] was just amazing. Chaz Davis & John Hopkins were in the the motogp.com booth with Gavin Emmett [ after the flag ] and John hopkins nearly went through the roof will amazment when Vale keep it going round the outside !!!!

For those who watched on BBC and missed all the comments : Questioning some of Rossi´s tactics Stoner went on to say, `I have been racing for a long time and I have seen a lot of close overtaking passes. I have had them done on me, I´ve done them myself and there is close riding, aggressive riding and then the point that is a little bit over that line.´

Your thoughts please MotoGP race fans.

  1. Hi Wiggysan,  What to say ???  I agree with Cheryl H, I think heat of the moment and disappointment at losing in such a small mistake kind  of way. he must have missed his braking point by inches. some of the moves (by both riders) were hard. maybe even on the so called line. But Rossi knew he had to stay in front to win. well played to him. he rode the nuts off that Yam. I can see the same thing happening at Bruno, good track and fast sweepers.   Stoner was a bit calmer on the podium and did shake Rossi's hand and they were both smiling and talking to each other.  I don't think Stoner will be rattled by Rossi and I expect him to come out fighting again in 3 weeks time.  Great race, another to a great season. I still wouldn't like to bet my house on a winner to the season.

  2. SOwhat is he had a whinge, Coz next time SToner will

play dirty for ever and Valo better be carefull. Because I think he has now unleashed the Stoned Beast Stoner and will win the title this year because he will use today as motivation for revenge.    LOOK OUT ROSSI

  3. Somebody call the Whambulance!!

Stoner and blackdog need assistance, they seem to be suffering some sort of dementia.

    ROSSI=GOAT

Half the guys on Blackdogs list would admit that!

  4. ya cool

  5. Rossi should have backed off at the 'Corkscrew Incident',but he,like Stoner, wanted to win. When they have both seen the incident,I hope they can see there was no malice intended.

  6. Stoner just found out that there is someone to challenge him and he had a real shock. The adrenalin was probably pumping, etc. Great race, I loved it.

  7. It's easy to make ultra clean passes when your bike is obviously way faster. Stoner doesnt have to make passes around the outside of corners on a slow bike. So it's very easy for him to whine when a better rider rode the wheels off his slower bike and passed the faster bike a half dozen times.

  8. Hey Wiggysan! What a race, huh?

Before the race Vale had said that he would have to shoot Stoner, if he wanted to win... Well that's what he did! He rode his bike aggressively because it was his only chance to win this. His tires were messed up and still he managed to finish first and to play with Stoner like only the Doctor knows. Rossi was pushing harder and Casey just couldn't take it, but we have to give it to Stoner for putting a great fight.

Honestly, I was a bit scared that in the end they might both end up crashing! But the results cannot be better than now!!!

As for the comments... Eurosport here never shows the MotoGP comments. I have watched 125cc riders and 250cc riders but never the guys, who I prefer seeing... So I'm a bit confused. How are we supposed to interpret what Casey said? I think Rossi was riding close and aggressively but I don't think he was over the line. We all know that in real life they are good friends (you have even posted a photo where they are playing pool). So my point is, Rossi just did what he had to do a long time ago (2007!!!), he won! It was now or never because Ducati are on a row, they'll continue winning and Rossi will loose the title again, and I'm sure he doesn't want that...

Casey is a cool guy (or that's how it looks like). I hope everything between them is alright. I'm sure Vale would not want to argue with him and I hope that after the summer break we'll be watching more of this type of racing - On the edge, always pushing hard and never back down!

  9. rossis riding was "over the line"...but his deliberate move that caused Casey to run off the track should get him banned from racing for being dangerous...I watched the reply numerous times and saw what rossi did..it was dangerous and the resort of a desperate rider trying to defeat a better rider...rossi is NOT the greatest rider and will never be...he is a long way down the list as far as I'm concerned..

    The List

    Joey Dunlop

    Mick Doohan

    Eddie Lawson

    Freddie Spencer

    Stanley Woods

    Mike Hailwood

    Wayne Rainey

    Kenny Roberts snr

    Barry Sheene

    Jarnno Saarinen

These are the top ten motorcycle racers of all time

p.s. Casey Stoner will win the championship again this year

  10. Wow,incredibile!!!!!!!!

In the post-race interview Rossi said that he couldn't relax even for a minute during the whole race -same with me(and everyone who watched it I suppose :-)I'm speechless to analise what is happening in Moto GP this year, especially in Laguna Seca.Pedrosa retired from it,Rossi made a comment that he would need to shoot Stoner or to start 30 sec before him to beat him. For the next time I convinced myself that the Doctor always knows what he's talking about,he's never kidding when it comes to racing. He made a brilliant start and kept riding pretty aggressively.I think that it was much of a "all or nothing chase" as he exposed himself and his machine to a big risk, but fortunately a beneficial one this time.

Casey has a point to be "unhappy".He had his chances but mistakes and luck are a part of the game, right?According to Stoner the race had been  full of too aggressive moves but I am more likely to agree with Vale,it was an aggressive but a fair one.

Anyway there's a summer brake to take place now and time for the riders to overcome any negative emotions and cure injuries.I hope that I'll see everyone in high spirits and good shape in the Check GP.

  11. An amazing race :) A bit disappointed in Stoner at the end, probably a little hot headed with the adrenaline and a little bit of immaturity coming through, but no excuse for not shaking Rossi's hand. Remember Capi & Rossi (think it may have been malaysia or sepang 06) having a real fairing bashing race and at the end they both lay in a heap in Parc Ferme saying how much they enjoyed it.

Agressive? - yes. Dirty? - hmmmm.  Exciting? - definately. This is the way we want our racing. Roll on Brno!!!!

  12. WELL THEN - You all know what I think !

Seeing as THEY have deleted my question

(do I really care - NOPE) Coz I can say it

    again in another question !!!

    "WHHHHHOOOOO'sssss The DADDY" ???

OK then so now that's orff me chest -

Hey Wiggy - in response now to YOUR

question - (Sorry bout that) I don't think

that Casey has seen Rossi ride that hard

before - (not sure that I have) I suspect that

he never in a million years expected that

kinda race with that kinda pressure !!

All the hype regarding Stoner off in the

distance has proven, that to underestimate

the abilities of other machines and their

riders is nuffin but POPPYCOCK !!

Clearly, both Rossi & Stoner left the rest of

the field waaaaay back in the distance.

It was however ROSSI who dominated

showing the skill and talent that HAVE already

    EARNED his 7 world titles.

As for Stoner's remarks (which I only

happened to catch flicking to BBC2 & not

EuroSport during the Ads) I can only guess

that the sheer suprise/shock of having to

ride soooo hard (and not nearly as smoothly

as Rossi) may have left him somewhat

embarrased ?? - if not by his mistake ...

    ... his comments should !!!!

BOTH were riding on the limit - Both made

each other work for their living - Even if

Rossi WAS 'crossing the line of aggression'

(as put by Casey) - he didn't think DURING

the race 'Sh*t this is too aggressive, I ain't

getting involved' and pull back slightly - NO

he choose to participate knowing the

    consequences - either way !!

Stoner n Rossi both lucky to get away with

minor gravel blipps - Stoner did say he was

ready to get dirty !! Didn't he ....

    lol)  and THAT's RACING folkes.

Bloody Good racing too (even if me heart

was in me gob on a few occasions)  - x*x -

: . Zipperdie do darrrrr - Zipperdie Aaayyy

'    My ohhhhh My - What a Wonderful Day ...

Wiggy - no bad words - just plain ol

"Who's the Daddy" ?  - THEY said it was

neither a qestion or an answer .........

Beats me, can't see it's any different to

"Who's the best" ? or "Who won" ?

    questions ???

    Di*ck Eds - x*x -

    There goes another violation

    and -9 points !!!

  13. A brief conversation in parc ferme when Rossi attempted to shake hands with Stoner was caught on the BBC's live television coverage:

    Rossi: "Great race."

Stoner: "No, you can't race this way."

    Rossi: "That's racing, Casey."

Stoner: "That's racing? Ok, we'll see."

    ????

    ROssi is the best!

  14. very thrilling.  Stoner had plenty of laps to make his move, and he can't put blame on one particular pass.  He had so many laps to find his line, analyze Rossi, and make the move, he just could not do it.  Still much credit, for getting back on the bike and grab 20 points after the fall.

All the credit goes to Rossi, he is such an amazing rider, and like someone said previously, he got everything possible out of his M1.

It was certainly dissapointing for me as an American to see Colin Edwards so far back, and Hayden to miss the podium.
