how many different species of rosy boa are there and which ones can i buy in california without a permit

You do not need a permit to own a rosy boa in California..they are indigenous to the state.  there are about 5 different types of rosy boas depending upon where they are found.  There are now different color morphs available though. They make a great docile pet that are easy to care for.  A very good choice for a first snake.
