Rotar Wing pleases connections at NottinghamRotar Wing (4-11 favourite) got the job done at Nottingham earlier this week, where he successfully managed to record yet another success at the track when clocking 17.83secs to land the Bookmakers Sprint Trophy final across 305m.The September 2007 charge never looked to be under any major threat as he continued in his usual manner and bag his connections the first prize of £400. It was just a matter of pinging well and reaching the first bend in the clear which he did with ease. Wing defeated runner-up Hillcross Pluto (6-1) by four-and-a-half lengths. The victory sees the David Pruhs’ charge undefeated from his last seven, but that’s not truly underlining the success this tough hound has rewarded his camp. To date, Wing has run a total of 31 Sprints and has only lost nine, earning a total of £5950, which is an excellent achievement for his Grade and reflects a very promising career ahead for him.The trainer also landed a double in the heats for the Stadium Bookmakers Standard Trophy across 500m in the form of Bourne Mason in the first heat, who clocked 30.32secs and Bang the Gate in the second, who clocked 30.29secs.Stuart Mason’s Final Washington was the fastest qualifier in the third heat, clocking an impressive 29.98secs. Washington, who could only reach the semi finals in the Bettor.com Scottish Derby, has since been having a good spell at Nottingham and may be the biggest threat for Pruh’s duo on final night next week.In other news the popular Sky Sports televised show for all greyhound racing fans The Dogs is set to air for the final time next month as the Greyhound Board of Great Britain decide to pull the plug to cut down on expenses. This news has infuriated many connected to the sport, one in particular being legendary handler Charlie Lister.Lister said in the Racing Post: "These people make me mad. They seem quite willing to give hundreds of thousands of pounds to millionaire owners to improve restaurant facilities at tracks, yet they're cutting off The Dogs which doesn't cost much to produce and is watched by lots of greyhound racing enthusiasts."I think it's disgraceful. Why they've knocked it on the head for the amount of money they've got to pay to keep it going is just beyond me. It's very, very disappointing."In a day and age where exposure is very much needed for every sport, it’s kind of embarrassing to know that the GBGB can’t fork out and estimated £4,000 per programme to keep it running. The greyhound racing industry has overall been facing a decline in the past few years and I don’t personally think the GBGB are going about the right way to revive it.
