Question:

Rotation 5-1 and 6-2? HELP!

I've been playing VB since 5th grade and at one point I had no problem with that sort of rotation because my camp coach explained it well..

But now I'm starting to play club and I'm absolutely confused when someone talks about it.

I know that in 5-1 there is one setter and in 6-2 there are two, but I would really, really appreciate if you could explain how the players totate after the ball goes over the net and such. Pictures and videos would be soooooo helpful, too.

Thanks so much in advance.

  1. Most 5-1 and 6-2 are run the same way.  However, I will warn you that some coaches like to make their own variations.

In the 5-1, the setter plays right side after the ball goes over the net.  If the setter is back row, they will switch to right back.  If they are front row, they will switch to right front.

In the 6-2, the setters will switch to right side after they get done setting the ball.  The setter that is in the front row will be the right side or opposite hitter.  The setter that is in the back row will be the setter for the play and play right back.

  2. Are you wondering about your specific position and where to rotate to or where all of your team mates go?  What is your position?
