What is the best time of year to place a lawn? I have brass down now but it is uneaven and annoys me. Can i rotavate the old lawn into the soil, level it and seed over? Can anyone also tell me how long i should leave the leveled soil before sawing seeds? Am I to late in the year to get it done now?

  1. Above answer is right, spring or early Autumn.  I prefer early autumn as the ground is still warm and seeds germinate quickly.

So start now.  Kill off the grass with Roundup, it takes awhile to work completely.  Make sure to keep irrigating the lawn so it will take in the chemical well.  Use a sod cutter to remove the dead turf.  Rototill, level, add organic matter such as compost as well as a starter fertilizer, give it the final grade and then seed around Labor Day.

  2. The best time of year is early spring or late summer, like in Sept when the weather begins to cool down.
