Rotten fish smell in bedroom?

In the babies room it had a real potent smell of rotten fish and had smelt when redecorating, you could even smell it over the paint it was that strong.

Sometimes you couldn't smell anything in there but then sometimes you would get a real pungent smell of rotten fish and what's even weirder is that one minute it would smell in one part of the room then it would like jump and smell in another part of the room, any ideas? There didn't seem to be any spillages and the smell would change places.

  1. You may have a decaying rodent in there - you can call animal control or a pest service to detect and safely remove the animal then deodorize the area. It is important to have this done professionally as a decaying animal is a breeding ground for all manner of disease. Good Luck!

  2. As mentioned before, It may well be a dead mouse or squirell. There are many other possible causes. Is the room adjacent to the stack (vent) wall of a bathroom, or adjacent to the drain side of a tub? Is it over a drum trap or running trap in the basement or crawlspace? If you have a crawlspace, have you checked for the odor there? Is there any moisture or excess humidity in the room or below? If you can answer yes to any  one of these, that would be my first choice to start checking.

  3. It is either an animal moving around inside the walls or it might be a "ghost".
