Roughcast best way to do it?

I need my house re roughcasted I asked a company for a quote he told me he would cut out bits needing done then scratch coat them then scratch coat the house then roughcast it can this be done or have you heard of this being done.

Sounds like the best way to do it if most of the existing is solid and you want it to look like it has all been re done, it just saves knocking all the existing render off which can be very labour intensive meaning it will be very expensinve.

The other option would be to just knock off the loose/cracked areas and just have those areas redone the trouble is with doing it this way it will look very patchy unless your painting it.
