Thanks for the rule info guy's and lady I wasnt sure about the rail contact either In BCA its the same it dont matter what just something has to go to a cushion.

Not sure but my position is this...be it PRO, APA or a junk table found lying in a dump if you're going to play pool play the shot. Who could possible feel good about continuing on a shot that did a round robin around the table and managed to slap a ball in somewhere. I really don't get how slop can possibly prosper anyones game.

APA safe shots are pretty straight forward. You don't have to call them. You just have to make contact with one of your object balls first and then something, ANYTHING, has to hit a rail. The score keepers mark the shot as a safe on the score sheet. You cannot call a safety in the APA, pocket one of your balls, and then let your opponent shoot. If one of your balls goes in after a good hit you shoot again.

The VNEA does not have to call shots either..like the APA....exception, of course is the 8 ball or 9....the HUGE difference you see between the two leagues, though, is the style of the players.....I've noticed that the more serious players play with VNEA...they don't just knock the h**l out of the ball hoping it'll go somewhere, like those in  APA...plus, the benefits of VNEA are far off better towards the end of the session...you get much better trophies, plaques, pins, patches, cue sticks, banquets & MONEY!! ....The APA only rewards the top team/player with somewhat decent funds and some plastic trophy...patches are "supposed" to be given out to those who make the 8 break, 8 ball run out, & rackless night, but alot of us ex-players haven't received them yet...the plaques are simple...something you can easily have made at your local sports store...plus, the VNEA's rules are healthy ones.....and most stick to them....not like that other piddly league.........sorry if ppl don't like me hating on the APA, but if they had experience like I have with them...they'll know why......................DreO
