Round Off Back Tuck.?

Okay. I've been tumbling on and off now for about 4 years. And in the past year ive pretty much just taken one tumbling class a week. Ive had a consistent back hand spring and round off back handspring for about a year and a month now. Now im working on round off back tucks. Ive been getting spotted on these for about two months on a spring floor. The guy that spots me says hes not even doing anything and if he didnt have his hand there then i could do it by myself. After i got home i wanted to try and do it on the grass but i just kept freaking myself out and putting my hands down into a back hand spring. Dont tell me its dangerous or whatever. I dont care ill take the risk of falling. Any way my question is how long do you think it will take or do you have any tips to get over the fear of falling on my head? Did any of you ever learn it this waY?

  1. I would just ask your spotter/coach to stand there while you try it. If you get scared and freak out the worst that is going to happen is he'll spot you or you'll put your hands down into a backhandspring.

I have 15 years experience tumbling and one thing I've learned is if you're going to try it, then try it. Decide before you start running that you're going to do it and give it your everything...100%.

    I hope that helps.

    Good luck.

(you can only get over your fear by just trying it - I know it sounds easier then doing it)

  2. i think you should keep practicing at classes with a spotter until you feel comfortable. if you do it alone once there, then you can do it alone anywhere. believe in yourself and dont think about it, just do it! good luck.
