The Croatian International failed to bag a single scalp during his team’s entire pre-season campaign. His performance over the last one month has been in sharp contrast with what the striker achieved last term. After being signed by Everton in January, he
went on to smash the club record, by becoming the fastest player to reach the 10 goal mark in 100 years.
In total, he capped 16 appearances for Everton, and netted 11 goals.

Even though he was aware of the Scott’s plans of adding more firepower to their attacking front, the assistant manager had no doubts that the Croatian ace will step up once again to spearhead the toffees attack.
He opined that despite failing to get on the score sheet, Jelavic remained in the thick of things during their entire pre-season, and it was only a matter of time before he gets back to scoring ways.
While talking to reporters, he said: “It’ll simply be a matter of time before he scores I’ve got no doubt about that – maybe he’s saving them up for the next few weeks when it matters. He is a big stage player and you see with some of his movement and the
way he attacks defenders he will get in and score goals.”
