Question:

Round off Back Handspring problem?

by  |  earlier

My coaches keep telling me that I have my round off back handspring by myself on the floor but I am SUPER scared to do it by myself. I start bending my arms when they don't spot me cause I freak out, and I don't bend my arms even if they only put their pinky there. I have to get over my fear, but it's like I don't believe I have it. (Mental Block is what some people call it) Anyone have help???

  1. I know exactly what you're talking about :) I was there just like last week. You have to make up your mind that you're going to throw it even before you step on the mat, otherwise you're gonna psych yourself out. So get inspiration like wathcing a cheer competition, listening to competitive music or watching someone else. When you do your roundoff try to get your feet infront of you when you land and that will force you to do your handspring because if you don't, you'll fall on your butt but if you follow through you'll be just fine. You could also try throwing on a tumble track ( a long trampoline built for running tumbling) and see if you can throw by yourself on there - that could help as well. Good luck, girl! Believe in yourself!
