Round up: Detroit Tigers sweep Chicago White Sox 3-0
American League’s Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox, both went head to head in an exciting three game series. Tigers did an extraordinary job as they flattened the White Sox 3-0 in this series. Tigers have had a superb season so far as they maintained
a balance in their Win-Loss record during the regular season.
Let us take an overview of these exciting games.
Game 1 - September 12: Detroit Tigers 14 – Chicago White Sox 4

Tigers managed a 14-4 win in the first game, as Rick Porcello was outstanding with his pitching. He had three strike-outs with an ERA of 4.83 in the Tigers’ convincing victory. Delmon Young was energized after this credible win as he said, “It all started
in the second inning. Victor got on base and Jhonny hit a big home run to put us on top. We had solid at-bats and good swings today.”
Conversely, White Sox were able to contribute just four runs. John Danks pitched well for the White Sox but that was not enough to pull a victory for his team. He was able to strike-out only five batters on his 96 pitches and gave away three walks, two home-runs,
11 hits, eight runs and seven earned runs.
Game 2 - September 13: Detroit Tigers 5 – Chicago White Sox 0

In the second game, Tigers outclassed the White Sox 5-0. Tigers’ starter, Justin Verlander pitched the ball in perfect line as he threw seven innings and surrendered only two walks and six hits with an ERA of 2.36. Verlander had six strike-outs on his 106
pitches.
White Sox’ manager, Ozzie Guillen had a huge ovation for Verlander. Speaking to reporters, Guillen said, “When you face a pitcher of that calibre you've got to get it done before he starts to make his pitch. He throws every pitch in any count. The guy throws
98 and he'll throw you a 3-2 breaking ball. I don't think you can do much about that.”
On the other hand, White Sox batters were unable to put any run on the score-board throughout the game. Gavin Floyd had an unsteady day with the ball as he pitched just over five innings with an ERA of 4.42 and permitted four hits, four runs, four walks
and four earned runs.
Game 3 - September 14: Detroit Tigers 6 – Chicago White Sox 5

During final game of the series, White Sox lost by 6-5. Tigers’ second baseman Carlos Guillen shined as he hit two RBIs and went 3-for-5 with an average of .226. Tigers’ manager, Jim Leyland said, “We hung in there and had a real nice win. A really unbelievable
win.”
Juan Pierre, Alexei Ramirez, Brent Morel and Alejandro De Aza each contributed five collective runs for the White Sox but a group effort kept the Tigers on top right through the series.
