Draw Challenge winner gets two VIP tickets to next year’s season finale event
Jean Butler of Great Britain won a VIP trip for two to the 2011 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals after putting on a late surge to win the 2010 ATP World Tour Draw Challenge with solid appearances in the last two brackets.
Ironically, Butler had spent time analyzing the contenders’ records and head to heads earlier in 2010, however her Paris and Shanghai brackets, in which she finished eighteenth and seventh respectively, were completed off the cuff
and in a rush.
“I got really lucky with the Shanghai bracket. I did it late at night very, very quickly because I had been out and when I got back it was late on the Saturday night. I hardly checked any head-to-heads or anything; just went straight
down the draw and just went with my gut instinct. Earlier in the year, I would spend more time. If it was players I was not sure about then I would have a click on the head-to-head, see how well they had been playing this year. I do follow tennis, I do watch
it whenever I can and I get the results emails from ATPWorldTour.com, so I am aware of how players are performing,” said Jean.
Butler realized she was on the edge of winning on the evening of the BNP Paribas Masters title battle, when she was the only one of the top four on the leader board who had predicted the Swedish tennis ace, Robin Soderling to win
the title.
Jean has been a tennis lover for ages and has travelled far and wide to watch number one Brit, Tim Henman play. His official Fan Club by the name of, "Topspin", has also been run by her since 1996.
“If it had not been for Tim, I would not have won!” explained Jean as she gave credit to Henman for her increased interest in the game of tennis, having previously followed the professional lives of Andre Agassi and Stefan Edberg.
A few days ago, she took a group of twenty of the hundred active Fan Club members to the Royal Albert Hall to meet the Briton Tim Henman and see him playing at the 2010 AEGON Masters Tennis, where he made his way into the semifinal
round before bundling out of the event.
With the retired Tim now more interested in golf than tennis, Jean is now looking forward to following defending winner Roger Federer at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in 2011.
