Roush Fenway Racing and 3M partners for three more years in NASCAR Sprint Cup – Racing News
Roush Fenway Racing and 3M have reached an agreement to continue their relation to support the No.16 car in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for three more years.
The team owner of RFR, Jack Roush announced on Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway that they are extending their partnership with 3M through the 2014 Sprint Cup season. The company will act as the primary sponsor for Greg Biffle’s No. 16 Ford Fusion. They
both entered this season together, but their contract was about to expire, which they eventually renewed. Earlier they also extended their contract with the driver Biffle, for the same three years.
"I am thrilled with the prospect of continuing the relationship," Roush said. "Our endeavors with 3M have been successful both on and off the track and will ideally culminate with a championship season for Greg and 3M in the near future."
3M and Roush has been together for almost five years, where they first came close in 2005 Sprint Cup season. The Senior Vice President of sales and marketing at 3M, Bob MacDonald was there to sign the contract. He was excited for the renewal and believes
that it will take them to a higher level at NASCAR.
"Our relationship with Greg, Jack and the entire Roush Fenway organization has been great for our business," MacDonald said. "We're very excited about taking [it].”
The No. 16 team has put some decent results on the track since they are with 3M. Biffle, who drives the No. 16, has grabbed five victories, 48 top-five and 97 top-ten finishes working with 3M since 2005. He also acknowledges the support that 3M has provided
to the team during the years.
"We set the bar pretty high early on with 3M and they have stood by us on our best and worst days over the years," said Biffle.
This season, it has started off unimpressively, as the No. 16 car finished the first three races below the top-twenty. After that it has raised up a bit with some close finishes. The team is currently at the 16th spot on the season’s standing
table with one top-five and two top-ten finishes after competing in all eight races.
RFR is one of the top teams at NASCAR, and has seven teams in operation. At the Sprint Cup they have four teams while at the Nationwide Series they have three. The cars have put some notable performances in recent years. They have some of the top driver
of stock car racing under their contract, including Carl Edwards, Matt Kenseth and David Ragan.
3M is an American company that is formally known as Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company. It currently operates in more than 60 countries. The 3M Company produce over 55,000 products that range from fire protection equipment to dental products.
