Roush Fenway Racing owner Jack Roush not anxious about New Hampshire – NASCAR news
Jack Roush, owner of Roush Fenway Racing, says that the team is ready for the weekend’s Chase at New Hampshire.
Roush added that Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth are raring to do well at the upcoming race.
With Edwards in third place for the Sprint Cup and Kenseth in tenth, Roush is hoping to get his third Cup Championship this year. Roush Fenway Racing won their last Championship back in 2004, when they secured back-to-back victories, having won in 2003 as
well. Kurt Busch was the driver in 2004 while Matt Kenseth secured the victory in 2003.
Roush said that Chicago is behind them and the team is now looking forward to New Hampshire. He said that the track at Loudon did not worry him as much as Talladega which he said could “wreck your plans in a blink of an eye.”
In the previous race, Carl Edwards had finished 4th while Matt Kenseth lead for a long time in the race but ran out of fuel at the end and was helped around the corners by J.J. Yeley on the last lap. This led to NASCAR penalising
Kenseth and dropping him down to 21st position. The other two drivers, David Ragan and Greg Biffle, finished 11th and 26th respectively.
Commenting on that performance at Chicago, Roush said that all his drivers had put in great performances throughout the race and it was only at the end that the fuel mileage crisis ruined the results for his team.
Roush was also not pleased with NASCAR and said that the officials have not made too much effort to make the cars driver-friendly.
“With a solid rear axle, truck arms and great mass, the Cup cars drive like a pickup. There are four or five things every lap that can leave you in tears out there -- that can hurt the car for speed, loosen it up, sometimes cripple the car.” said Roush.
“That makes it very tough and challenging on drivers.”
Roush expected Sylvania 300 to be a tough race but was confident that his team had made the necessary preparations and will pass the test.
