Roush condition updated to fair
Officials from Roush Fenway Racing released a statement Monday that co-owner and chairman of Roush Enterprises Jack Roush has been upgraded to fair condition at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Roush has been recovery in the clinic after being treated for eye and facial injuries he sustained in a plane crash last week.
Roush, 68, was injured during a landing accident at the Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, last Tuesday night. He was in Oshkosh last week to attend the Experimental Aircraft Association’s annual AirVenture.
Roush was physically able to walk away from the crash though photos taken at the scene showed him with a blood smeared face. He underwent surgery on his face that night and is expected to have more surgeries in the future. He was transferred to the Mayo Clinic four days ago and will continue to recover at the facility.
This wasn’t the first plane crash Roush has been in. The experienced pilot crashed in 2002, a far more serious one than last week’s.
Roush Fenway general manager Robbie Reiser had been in contact with Roush over the weekend, updating him on the status of the Pocono races and assures that he is doing well, and even is trying to get some work done.
“He’s all there. He knows what’s going on, knows what happened to him and he understands everything. His deal was to tell us that we shouldn’t worry about him. We should worry about what we’re supposed to be doing. It was typical Jack – more worried about what we’re doing than what he’s doing. That’s the way he is.”
Roush even called to congratulate Greg Biffle after his monumental victory on Monday. Following their conversation Roush also issued a press statement
“It’s a proud day for Ford, Greg Biffle, [crew chief] Greg Erwin, [sponsor] 3M, [his crew] the Pit Bulls, and all of the wonderful sponsors who have stood by us these last few months,” he said. “I’m comforted in having Robbie Reiser at the helm in my absence and know that things are in good hands.”
