Rousimar Palhares will face Mike Massenzio at UFC 142 in Brazil – UFC News
Brazilian mixed martial art (MMA) fighter Rousimar Palhares will face American MMA fighter Mike Massenzio at UFC 142 in Brazil. The event is schedule to take place on January 12, 2012 in Rio de Janeiro. The two fighters will meet
in the middleweight bout which will be featured in the main card on the event.    
The UFC officials had announced the bout in mid November when the fighters had verbally confirmed the fight. The UFC management later announced that the bout has indeed been finalized for UFC 142. 31-year-old Palhares will be looking
to win for the second time in front of his home crowd.
With the bout set against Massenzio, the Brazilian MMA fighter would be willing his winning streak to three fights. He has been on a winning run lately. He won the bout against Dave Branch at UFC Live event in March 211 followed
by his win against Dan Miller at UFC 134 in August 2011.
His opponent, the 29-year-old Massenzio, made his successful return to the middleweight category at UFC 136 in October 2011. He defeated Steve Cantwell by a unanimous decision. Massenzio has been a professional MMA fighter since
April 2005 where he has won thirteen bouts and lost five. On the other hand, Palhares began his MMA career in April 2006 and has also won thirteen fights but with three losses.
The Brazilian MMA fighter is famous for his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighting style and also for his leg locks which has given him much success in the past. Ever since the UFC announced the bout, both fighters have been eager to set
foot inside the UFC octagon ring. Along with the UFC and MMA fans, the UFC management also look excited to witness two good fighters take out their aggression at UFC 142.
Massenzio would use UFC 142 to leverage his MMA career. He has lost three out of the five fights he contested in from December 2008 to October 2011. He would not get another loss stain his MMA career. He would be looking forward
to beat Palhares in Brazil. Palhares has been excited ever since he was given a chance to fight in Brazil. He would certainly use the home crowd advantage to beat Massenzio
